I need all parents who have not handed in week 8 work to hand it in TODAY. Any week 8 work I do not have by the end of the day (Monday) will receive a zero. The work is Due by Sunday. I am having way too many parents not handing in materials. If you have not handed in assignments and you have not contacted me as to why. Your scholar may receive a zero for that assignment moving forward.
This week is going to be a little different. We are doing an assessment week and I will be emailing parents who still have missing assignments that need to be handed in. There are four assessments Math, Reading, Phonics, Language Arts, We will not be doing Religion or Spelling this week. You will only be focusing on these four tests.
You are to take one test at a time. When you have completed the test you are to send the test to me by the assigned due date. You will take one test a day. DO NOT START ONE TEST THEN MOVE TO ANOTHER. ONE TEST A DAY! (I allowed two days for the math test. This will be the hardest test to take.)
Anyone who cannot hand in a test on a due date you MUST email me explaining why and we will come up with a solution. If I do not get an email and you do not hand in the test on the due date the test will receive a minus 5 for each day it is late. I NEED you to stay on top of these tests. The quarter ends on Friday the 29th. I will need that entire week for sorting and grading the tests (as each test is about 6 pages long)

Weekly Lesson 4/27/2020 Week 6 We have made it through 6 weeks of e learning! Give yourself a Pat on the back. Thanks to all who have handed in work these past few weeks. I know things have been hard but I am very proud of how hard you are all working. IMPORTANT NEWS I want to make all parents aware that I will be assigning more work than what I will be asking you to hand in. It is important that you do all the work. You need to think about this as some is classwork and some is homework. I ONLY want you to take pictures of the work that I say IS DUE. Please ONLY send me these papers. I am no longer assigning due dates. All work is due by Saturday night each week. All resources for the week will be available to you on my website until Saturday night. I will update the website on Sunday. PLEASE try and hand in the assignments as you go. I just need to try and break up the assignments up so that I do not have 100 emails on Saturday. We have created MAKE UP WORK days every two weeks moving forward. Friday May 1st is a make- up work day. I will not assign any lesson/work for scholars to do on these days. We will not have zoom sessions on these days. These days are for parents to reach out to teachers to find out about any work that your scholar is missing. If you have missing work we are giving you these extra days to get the work done. Any work that is not handed in will receive a zero. I will be going to the school on Monday the 27th from 8-10. On this day I will be putting papers together for scholars who are missing work up to this point. I will email these specific parents about the work and what you will need to be picked up from the school. There will be clear directions with these make up packets when you pick them up. Zoom Information: Zoom sessions this week will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2:00. Your scholar will now be getting participation points for each zoom sessions. Zoom sessions moving forward will all be structured and I will be teaching something during these times. I will let you know what resources you will need to help participate in the session. Please try and make sure your scholar is present. If you cannot make a session please let me know. I need parents to do their best placing your child in a SILENT room. I cannot have the background noise. The scholar’s cannot hear me and I cannot hear them. Please show your scholar how they can mute themselves as I need your scholar to stay on mute for most of the time. I will let them know when to unmute. Most scholars did a great job with this on Friday! At the end of each zoom session I will leave some time for parents. If you have any questions for me please let me know and I will be happy to answer them at the end of our session. There will be something new this week. I need to know that you scholar is practicing words they should now be retaining. I am going to start spelling this week. Each word will work on a letter paring we have learned. It could be long/short vowels, silent letters, diagraphs, blends.. these are just a few things we have already learned this year. I will also leave a spelling Template on the lunch table if you would like to use that, but a separate sheet of paper for all spelling work will be just fine. How Spelling will work each week: Spelling will have three main components. Each week you will get ten words. You will need to write these words in abc order. You will label a blank sheet of paper 1-10 and write the words correctly. 2. You will need to write the words in a sentence to SHOW MEANING. What I mean by this is I do not want a sentence that says “I see the dog. “ I want “ The dog barks.” Showing me that they know what a dog is. There will be a recording posted to my website (please go to the spelling section and click on the words) and they will take a test on the words on Friday. You will need a blank sheet of paper numbered 1-10. You will listen to me saying the words and your child will write the word for each number I say. During this time it is very important that you do not correct your child or tell your child how to spell these words. You need to study them all week and they need to be prepared come Friday. Spelling: The list of words for this week: These words are also on m website under the Spelling section. 1. tray 6. thumb 2. maid 7. sheep 3. block 8. chick 4.
